Diana Palacio, M.D. – Assistant Professor of Radiology and Section Director of Chest and Cardiac CT Imaging.  

Dr. Palacio completed a 6 month fellowship training in CT Body Imaging at the University of Antioquia in Colombia.  She then completed her fellowship in Pediatric Radiology here at UTMB in 2005. Later she got her Thoracic Radiology fellowship training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2006 prior to rejoining our Department as Assistant Professor of Radiology where she will now oversees the Section of Chest and Cardiac CT Imaging. 

 

Suppiah Balachandran, M.D. – Clinical Professor of Radiology in the Section of Body Imaging.  

 

Dr. Balachandran joined our department the first time as an Assistant Professor of Radiology from 1977-1981.  He then held positions as an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.  Thereafter he was on staff as a Radiologist for the Lancaster Medical Group and High Desert Health System in Lancaster California.  In 1991 he rejoined our Department as Associate  Professor of Radiology until 1994, thereafter returning to California to work part-time.  He rejoins us to help part-time on our Body Imaging Section.

 

Sanford A. Rubin, M.D. Clinical Professor of Radiology

 

Dr. Rubin received his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed a one-year internal medicine internship and a three-year radiology residency at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Campus at Little Rock. He was on the faculty of the radiology departments of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and the University of Arkansas Medical Science Campus for four and five years, respectively. He returned to UTMB as an associate professor in 1979 and subsequently was promoted to professor of radiology.

 

Dr. Rubin belongs to a number of radiological societies and has been awarded fellowship in the American College of Radiology and the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Rubin in past president of the Society of Thoracic Imaging and editor emeritus of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging.

 

Dr. Rubin's CV includes approximately 50 manuscripts, chapters, and audiovisual productions. He has presented nearly 100 lectures at national and international conferences, and he has been an invited visiting professor at 70 institutions. He has received numerous teaching awards from the medical students at all three medical schools where has served on the faculty.

 

Recently retired , Dr Rubin has accepted to join us part time in the Chest Radiology area with his invaluable expertise and academic excellence.
