Welcome to the UTMB Department of Radiology. Major missions of the department include providing outstanding clinical care and radiology education. The department offers as well exceptional research opportunities, including collaborations and exchange programs with the leading departments in Europe and Asia. Our new outpatient subspecialty care center at Victory Lakes offers state of the art imaging across all modalities. The main department on Galveston island has also just been renovated. Both at Victory Lakes and on the main campus, the department offers the very latest technology including dual energy CT, 3 T wide bore MRI, SPECT CT, and interventional radiology (with dynaCT). The diagnostic imaging facilities on the main campus represent a combination of equipment which place the institution in the very top tier in the US, featuring a 128 channel 3 T MR system, a 128 detector dual source, dual energy CT, the latest in advanced interventional angiography equipment, and a 16 slice SPECT CT (with diagnostic quality CT). AT UTMB we have editors of prominent journals, authors of leading textbooks, and many renowned faculty of national and international reputation. UTMB offers 5 highly competitive residency positions annually, together with fellowship positions in neuroradiology, breast imaging and interventional radiology. We are extremely enthusiastic about our program and invite you to explore a department poised for growth with a long standing reputation for quality and congeniality. Val M.
